Rourkela had unprecedental rains in September 2011 and this hilly town where I have never seen water flowing on roads for more than two hours following the heaviest of rains during our 3o plus years of stay had floods on the embankment of river Koel and Bramhani. It was raining for days and that too strong downpours continued for hours together between 17th to 21st of September. The shrubs had hardly any chance of survival. I also went out to Rajasthan from 15th evening and arrived back on 25th. There were hardly any flowers in the garden. On the whole it was a disheartening September.
